April 2023 in Books

jewellThe final catch-up post brings me up to date – well it will if I manage to post May’s reading list on time at the beginning of June. It was a bit of a Lisa Jewell special this month, with finding them on offer (you’ve got to love a cheap Kindle book), along with reading a Adele Parks book ‘One Last Secret’, which follows the story of Dora a high-class escort. I always enjoy reading Parks’ books, her writing keeps you engaged throughout. Finally, I read a Jill Mansell book for an easy read – I’m pretty sure after I started to read this, that I had already read it – I didn’t have it on my Kindle already, so it must have been a book I read and gave away – I always use to pick books up cheap in a charity shop in Bedminster before I had my Kindle, and they would then get passed on to my Mum and my Nan to read – I think my Nan then used to take them back to a charity shop. I didn’t get as far as reading the Book Club read of the month, which was Kristin Hannah’s ‘The Nightingale’ – typically after this was the first book club in a while I could make it too. Everyone in the group enjoyed it though, and recommend reading it if you get a chance. I’ll look out for it going cheap on Kindle deals, and will read it then.
